Wine experts say this White wine delivers as it starts to enter its prime about five years after the vintage. It`s an unusually fresh and mature wine, perhaps because it arrived around the same time as the more widely available Viognier. The fruit comes from two Oak Knoll AVAs, one in each cell. The other, however, came down from the northern vineyards of the valley, resulting in an intensely fruity wine that makes a reprise of some of the vineyard`s faults. Here`s a tannic, dry, wonderfully refreshing flavors of cherries, currants and cola. Good as it is, it should age gracefully through at least 2019. The second wine of Château Smith, this is a ripe, cherry-flavored wine that is balanced by the acidity. It has a good, tight, crisp texture as well as red berry fruits. So although it is well oaked, it does not fully have the stuffing to age.
