Wine experts say this White wine delivers as it starts to enter its prime about five years after the vintage. It`s an unusually fresh and mature wine, perhaps because it arrived around the same time as the more widely available Viognier. The fruit comes from two Oak Knoll AVAs, one in each cell. The other, however, came down from the northern vineyards of the valley, resulting in an intensely fruity wine that makes a reprise of some of the vineyard`s faults. Here`s a tannic, dry, wonderfully refreshing flavors of cherries, currants and cola. Good as it is, it should age gracefully through at least 2019. The second wine of Château Smith, this is a ripe, cherry-flavored wine that is balanced by the acidity. It has a good, tight, crisp texture as well as red berry fruits. So although it is well oaked, it does not fully have the stuffing to age.
Wine experts say this White wine delivers as it`s shown. It`s delicious, floral and herbal, with lots of peppery, racy acidity. The fruit is forward, mixing plum and red berry, and there`s a nice lift to the finish, but it`s surrounded by sweeter floral notes and generic Riesling flavors. Drink now. Full-bodied and forward, this has gorgeous spice and chocolate flavors that are accentuated by the sweet blackberry and cherry jam fruit. The alcohol is a bit high, so the wine needs a full-Napa to ride around its rough edges. It opens with aromas of cherry, blackberry and leather that carry over to the palate along with ripe, chewy tannins. There`s plenty of appeal, but the finish loses its zest a bit on the midpalate. This is a smooth and restrained wine, with herb and earth aromas and flavors.
Wine experts say this White wine delivers as advertised in terms of ripe, fruity cherry and dark, toasty notes. In the mouth, however, the flavors are a bit reduced and unfocused. Juicy, oaky and monotone. Essentially Scott Paul`s reserve, this is a three-grape bottling, but for $12 it`s a better deal. It`s a earthy, savory Sauvignon Blanc with lemony fruit and sharp green aromas. The first impression is of wet cement; the flavors are less earthy and tart but still interesting. The second impression is of grapefruit pulp, but a bit thin and acidic; the finish is like water closetracked by rock. Great Buy. This medium-bodied wine has good concentration and a pretty texture from bright red fruits and firm tannins to the peppery snap of saline minerality. It finishes dry and refreshing.
