Wine experts say this White wine presents a classic opening salve for this Central Coast vineyard, and one that deserves more attention than the vineyard might have reasonably allowed for the grilled, charred vineyard floor to appear on the bouquet. Finishing with subtle apple, spice and mineral, it goes more for the modern style in style rather than tradition. Sourced from a single vineyard on Oliver`s North Bench, this was fermented and aged in one-quarter new French oak barrels. The time in oak has somewhat muted the snappy vitality of the fruit (some tasters might argue it has simply rounded it off). Grassy hints of fresh asparagus remain, and with peppery herb, juicy gooseberry and citrus peel. Light in color and body, this is a lovely example of Chenin, loaded with dried herb and wild strawberry that finishes long, with some tannic grip. The acidity is bracing.
Wine experts say this White wine delivers as promised, with aromas of apricot, pineapple and vanilla. It`s light in body, but there`s enough acidity to maintain an even playing field between the exotic fruit, melon and honey. Drink now. Hard cherry and plum aromas announce a dense, chunky palate with raw, prickly acidity. Cherry and berry flavors come with a dash of herbal heat and an overt herbal character, while the finish is oaky but not heavy. This is a dry, firm wine with fine tannins and dark black currant fruits. Still young, it will be better in 2015. A fruity, fresh and crisp wine that has just enough acidity to keep it crisp and lively. It has some richness to it both with the ripe apricot and pear flavors and also the red and yellow fruits. The wine is ready to drink.
