Wine experts say this White wine shows the best qualities of its vintage. The wine, from a prime site within the favorite vineyard, is enormously rich and sweet in raspberries, white currants, hibiscus and cola, with a smoky jacket of oak. Winemaker Steve Clifton ously wound up the vintage, which was notoriously dry. The result is a big, ripe wine that shows mineral intensity and gorgeously ripe flavors of blackberry, cassis and red currants. Just 60 cases made. Firm and tropical, this is a delicious, juicy and exuberant wine. Good acidity, a darkly tannic backdrop, fine tannins, just enough freshness to bring out the best of the fruit, all balanced with light acidity. A wine that is both fresh and wild, it does everything in its power to produce a wine that is elegant, elegant, elegant even by this very stringent drinking window.
Wine experts say this White wine is barrel fermented, then aged in new French oak for eight months. The impression is of limes, green apples and kiwi fruit, with a honeyed character. There is an attractive herbal edge, with spice and bright, final acidity. Unusually graceful and elegant, the wine has a bright, mineral texture, with all the aromatic characters of Pinot Noir. It is fresh, but never heavy, with bright acidity and fine flavors of citrus fruits, green plums, toast and spicy wild fennel. It can be drunk now, but will be better after 2015. Very rich, fruity and full bodied, a big, powerful Zinfandel that shows the intricacies of California red wine. Offers powerful berry, currant, cocoa, bacon and spice flavors, wrapped into tightly wound tannins. Really exquisite, but at this price.
Wine experts say this White wine delivers just what its owners want from Napa. Fine acidity gives the wine crispness, and a touch of oak adds a lot of savory smoked ham notes on the finish. Drink now–2014. Earthy, roasted berry aromas are full of oak and clove scents. This wine feels full and straddles the line between dry and spicy, with dark plum, blackberry and wild-herb flavors. For the money, this is a good investment and performance at a fair price. Cassis and black cherry aromas are a touch herbal. This wine feels hard-edged and hard on the palate, with herbal raspberry and red-plum flavors. Toasty, woody plum- and berry flavors finish with a lasting note of vanilla and peppery spice. Cofermented with 8% Syrah, this wine smells and tastes like black cherry.
Wine experts say this White wine delivers. It`s clean and crisp in acidity, with lemon and apple flavors. Just off-dry, with a little oak, it`s doing a pretty good job of balancing its sweet tangerine and mango fruit. Tastes a little sweet, with sugary flavors of apricots, peaches, pears, vanilla and buttered toast, with a streak of butterscotch. Juicy in strawberry and raspberry, this full-bodied Pinot offers plenty of deliciousness, with texture and a light pepper edge that adds interest. The acidity is clean and pleasant. This is a lean, austere wine, with tight, tough tannins. There`s a streak of nutmeg that finishes the wine, but it`s already tired and astringent. Too sweet by far, like honeyed juice in a big sugar wine. The flavors are like an old movie, with candied orange and bitter orange.
